Article 163-Veneration |

Canon 2959 |
|
|
Veneration is one of the twelve (12) Life Sacraments. Veneration is granted and administered by a valid Minister following death and the sacrament of Remembrance in accordance with these canons and associated approved liturgy |

Canon 2960 |

|
The sacrament of veneration is in honor of the Latin venere/venert meaning “to regard with respect, reverence, or heartfelt deference”. |

Canon 2961 |
|
|
Veneration is a ceremony held as soon after a person has died and the body has been properly released for burial rites by the next of kin. Veneration usually includes cremation, but may also include burial. It is the process of honoring a life in the presence of their bodily remains before cremation or burial. |
