7.1 Life Sacraments |

Article 166-Union |
|

Canon 2986 |
|
|
Union is one of the thirteen (13) Society Sacraments. Union is granted and administered when a couple of men or women or a man and woman upon reaching majority choose and consent of their own free will to validate their union through a registration and covenant of trust in accordance with these canons and associated approved liturgy. |

Canon 2987 |
|
|
The sacrament of Union is only permitted to be granted and administered when both parties are the age of majority. The sacrament of Union is always lesser than the separate sacrament of Matrimony. |

|
Canon 2988 |
|
|
The sacrament of Union is only permitted to be granted and administered when both parties openly agree before at least two witnesses to the divine matrimonial covenant free of duress, coercion, inducement or any corrupting influence. |

|
Canon 2989 |
|
|
While the sacrament of Union is available to any type of couple of men and women upon reaching majority, the superior sacrament of Matrimony is only permitted to be granted and administered to a couple representing a man and a woman. |
|

|
Canon 2990 |
|
|
A Union Covenant is registered into the Great Register and Public Record of a Ucadian society and is therefore given life as a Superior Trust which may be dissolved upon the dissolution of the Union through Divorce. |

|
Canon 2991 |
|
|
A competent Civil Authority may conduct the sacrament of Union. |
|
|
|
Canon 2992 |
|
|
A promise to Union does not give rise to an action to seek the celebration of Union. |
|
|
|
Canon 2993 |
|
|
Consummation is not a condition of Union. However, living together is a condition of valid Union. |
|
|
|
|
|
